Clarisonic Is Going Out of Business

On Tuesday, July 14, Clarisonic announced,”After more than a decade of game-changing innovation and industry-leading technology, the Clarisonic brand will be shutting down as of September 30, 2020.” and “We want to thank all of our loyal customers, dermatologists, and retail partners who have helped put this brand on the map. It has been our absolute pleasure to serve you all of these years.” Clarisonic is going out of business.

An era ends.

16 years ago, Clarisonic launched its innovative skincare devices — the best-known sonic face cleansing brushes. Soon, it became popular among young women. The brand grew fast and hot and eventually was acquired by L’Oréal from Pacific Bioscience Lab in 2011. The brand generated an estimated $100 million sales revenue in retail market in 2010, according to industry analyst. Oddly, the brand slowed down its pace under L’Oréal, after attempting to reaching out to devices for men, feet, and makeup applications from its major $150 face cleansing tools. Sales volume of home use skincare device in category wasn’t soaring as per some experts predicted.

“This difficult decision was made so that L’Oréal can focus its attention on its other core business offerings.” The brand explained in the announcement. Fans are shocked by this sudden closure announcement. Feel a little bit how sad they are in the comment of the brand’s Instagram post.

Along with the announcement, Clarisonic offers 50% discount on everything they sell, as a goodbye gift to all its users. By the time of this post, we found this sold out notice at the brand’s Instagram.

Good luck to those loyal fans, probably they will find what they need from the online shop sometime later or a local reseller like Sephora or Ulta Beauty. “Clarisonic brush heads and attachments will not be manufactured by a third-party or available under another name. However, please take advantage of our promotional offers at our authorized retailers on our full product assortment, while supplies last.” The brands clarified so. That means you will have to go bidding on eBay some day when you need a replacement brush head, if none of the official channels fail to satisfy your needs.

We are sorry to hear a leading brand is leaving. Fans will never have a new device for their daily skincare routine from their beloved brand. Competitors might be happy for a while, but to the entire market, losing such a giant player might mean uncertainty of the market’s future growth.
